The Facebook Phenomenon!

In the past few years the internet has taken off! One of the most popular sites that has recently hit the entire world by storm is Facebook. Facebook is social networking site that connects people to anyone in the world. This site allows people to share music, video, picutres, and text with anyone in the world. Facebook can be a dangerous site because certain people can hack into your profile and also certain people will post anything and everything on their pages. However this is such a cool site that would be neat to incorporate into the classroom. I feel it would inhance students learning and make it more exciting if students could share other information with students across the nation or even the world. I hope this day is right around the corner! http://http//www.youtube.com/watch?v=1FW_MjLR66I

Laptops...Yes? No?

In today's society technology is becoming more and more popular inside of classrooms all across the nation. It is constantly evolving and changing. In the article that I read before posting, the issue is that technology (laptops in particular) are causing a distraction inside of the classroom rather then enhancing the lessons. What can be done about this? Having laptops in the classroom is something that can help enhance the lesson. In order to ensure that they are not causing a distraction, educators need to have the use of laptops limited to certain times. Establish rules with the use of laptops. Also make sure that the students constantly have work to do when they are using the laptops. Another way to make sure this does not happen is to give the students options or a back-up plan when they finish what they are working on. The answer is yes! Laptops should indeed be used in the classroom. The positive effects definitely out weigh the negative effects.

Texting "The New Phenomenon"

Text messaging is something that is sweeping through the nation, even the world! However, it is really popular amoung our youth. "Hey man, I'll just text ya later....Shoot me a text when your free...All I did today in class was text!" These are just a few of the phases that I hear everyday. Is texting corrupting our youth? I think so! according to the article that I found, text messaging is casusing grades to drop, distracting students and causing stress and anxiety. When I step back and look at it, I realize just how much I text during an average day. If you were to ask the average young person, they would tell that it is more convienent, probably because it is! However it is also causing a lot of problems. I feel there is nothing we can do to cut back on this issue. Our society and generations are evolving into a more technology sound world.http://http//www.nytimes.com/2009/05/26/health/26teen.html

The New iPad!

http://http//www.pcworld.com/article/187888/no_second_coming_apples_ipad_just_a_big_ipod_touch.htmlWithin the past few months, I have been seeing commericials for Apple's new and latest release on the market, the iPad. After viewing a few of their ads, reading, and listening to my peers, I have come to a few thoughts on the iPad. After hearing from various sources, I have heard that this new tool has had problems loading, processing, and reading certain information. So in conclusion, the iPad is slower then expected. After reading an article on the iPad, sources say that the iPad is not very good at multitasking. "Hold on! Wait a minute! Isn't that what this world is coming to? Isn't that how our younger generation opperates?" Multitasking has become such a big part of our world, I was surprised to hear this. I am sceptical of this iPad until I myself use it. Therefore I am excited to use this tool for the first time!
